The elections are over. Even though I
work in that political realm, I am glad this
election cycle is over. I hope many of you
were able to be a part of the process this
cycle beyond just voting. COVID-19 has
really made it a different type of year.
“There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why? I
dream of things that never were,
and ask why not?” - George Bernard
Shaw
The past four years have been difficult for people. All because of who is living at 1700 Pennsylvania Avenue. I think it has really been the past 12 years. I do not care who is the current resident in the White House. I really don’t. We have bigger fish to fry when it comes to motorcycles rights. We have more to do when it comes to protecting freedom and liberty here in Arizona. It has never been about the POTUS and it never will be.
Our future as an organization is determined on its membership. The future of motorcycle rights for our children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, etc will be determined by how we fight NOW. While there may not be a mandatory helmet bill to get all fired up about, that is not why ABATE is here. There are many little things that add up that we, as Arizona motorcyclists, need to gather together and stand up for. If we do not do it today, then the future of “freedom of the road” will be lost for the future generations to follow us. I for one would not be able to live with myself if I knew I didn’t do all I can for the propagation of more freedom, more liberty in our state and country.
What does the future hold for us? That is going to be for YOU to answer. Thirty-six years ago I raised my right hand and said these words,
"I do solemnly swear that I will support
and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."
It has been close to five years that I gave my commitment to the membership of
ABATE that I would fight for motorcycle
rights as your lobbyist. I can’t say what my personal future may hold, but I can say that for as long as my heart beats I will honor both to the best of my ability.
“We don’t do what we do for the glory or
the fame or the credit; we do it for the
quiet satisfaction of making the world a
better place, saving the lives of innocents, and being better than you are.” ― Derek Landy
This is what the future holds for us. The
opportunity to be better than you are.
Be good to one another.
