President's Reports

December 2017

It is hard to believe that we are already coming to the end of the year 2017! I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday! I also hope that we all remembered those who are less fortunate than us at this time of year; it always gladdens my heart to see the generosity of those in the motorcycling community when it comes to help those in need. There are toy runs and food drives being held from one side of this great state to the other and motorcyclists always seem to be in the middle of the crowd working hard to help their fellow man.

I would like to take the time to personally invite All ABATE members along with their families to our Family Friendly Holiday Social! (That’s a mouthful) It is going to be on Saturday December 2nd, 2017. It will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge which is the same location as last year and it is also where the East Valley Chapter holds their meetings. The Eagles Lodge is located at 1712 W Broadway Rd., Mesa, AZ 85202.

There will be a Chili Cook Off so dust of your old family recipe and cook up a big batch and you may just go home a winner with bragging rights for the next year!! It is $5 to enter the cook off and $5 to taste/judge. All the proceeds go to the winner of the judges voting. So bring your family and friends the more who enter/taste/judge and more for the winner to take home!

There will also be raffle prizes! We will have a 50/50 and everybody’s favorite KARAOKE!! Start practicing and exercising those vocal chords and come out and have a great time with your fellow ABATE members and their families and friends! I look forward to seeing you there. Last year was the first time for this event and everyone had such a good time it looks like it will continue for many years.

At this time of year as we all go about planning our Holiday Celebrations and the hustle and bustle of shopping and dealing with the kids and grandkids and family and out of town visitors, or maybe traveling to see loved ones etc., please take time to slow down and take a breath enjoy all that we have.

Also at this time of year those around us are dealing with the hustle and stress of the Holidays as well and they might not be as attentive and vigilant as they normally would be so we need take it upon ourselves to be extra careful out there when riding our motorcycles or driving our cages etc.

At this time of year most of us are attending many different events such as holiday parties, toy runs for less fortunate kids and various food drives to name a few. Whether you are attending with your Chapter members or with another group or your family members, we would love to know who and or what events you are supporting. Please take a few photos and write a short article about the event or charity along with the group or club sponsoring the event. Send those in to the Masterlink. Not only do folks like to see their pictures in the paper but the added publicity may help the event to grow. When I was elected I made a goal for myself to attend at least one Chapter meeting of each of the Chapter in Arizona. I knew that as a Chapter Coordinator as well as just a member, that we never saw a State Officer at any of our meetings. Well before I was elected I did not fully understand how difficult it can be to make those meetings. Well I finally made a meeting for the last Chapter on my list. Mike Infanzon and I rode out to attend the monthly Chapter meeting of our Yuma Chapter. We took the afternoon off so we could ride out and make the meeting which is held at 6 PM on the second Tuesday of the month. I left home about 1:15. I was coming from Tucson and Mike from Phoenix. We met in Gila Bend around 3 PM and had a short meeting before heading out. We got to Yuma a little after 5 PM in plenty of time.

I want to thank all of the members of our Yuma Chapter for the hospitality they showed us. It was good to see everyone, many that I have known for years and some that I was happy to meet for the first time. It was a good meeting that included Chapter elections and congratulations to the new officers and my thanks to the past officers for all they do for ABATE.

We got back on the road and we stopped and fueled up along the way, we separated at Gila Bend and I went on to Tucson, getting home just after midnight. It was over 435 miles but a great ride and well worth the effort.

Once again I want to thank all the members of ABATE of Arizona for allowing me to serve and represent you. I also wish to thank all the newly elected officers in all the Chapters around the state for all that you do. We are a volunteer organization and it is because of folks like you that we can have the impact that we have. I wish to thank the outgoing officers around that state for the time that they dedicated and all the hard work it takes. As I finally come to a close I wish to wish all of you a very Happy Holiday season no matter how you choose to celebrate, may you and all those you love and care about be happy and healthy. Happy New Year to all!!!

Until Next Year! RIDE FREE!!
